Is it Worth the extra?

I have a minor scraping noise from front brakes , right side, (may be dirt,) alittle wobble at heavy braking none at light braking! I have read that the wobble is not uncommon from the break pads. If I need rotor's is it worth the extra $$$ for the difference?" Best place to buy them ? Also is it a major pain to install the larger SS Rotors ? Is that worth it?

Thanks for your input! FYI I am a TECH TARD so all info is helpful :)

Buy the best you can afford. As far as swapping to the larger non brembo SS rotors, it's no harder that changing out the stock rotors. You'll just need to get the correct caliper brackets.

I fixed my brake shudder by putting on cheap semi-metallic pads from NAPA. I've got almost 40k miles on those pads now and haven't had a shudder since changing them.

Don't forget to clean and adjust the rear brakes, even the best quality pads and rotors will eventually start to suffer from the dreaded brake judder when the rear brakes are out to lunch.

To keep your brakes happy, adjust the rears every 5,000 miles, or at every oil change interval.

Thanks a lot for the input ! Im picking up pads this week and install on Wed. at the shop I work at! I figure if I pull them to inspect I may as well change them, HHR has 33k, I purchased used and do not know how it was driven, and 35$ is cheap insurance! I read on here a few times about the pad issue. Im sure the rotor 's are not warped as the wobble is not all the time.. I know what warped rotor's feel like :) so will see if I am right next week :)

few years back bought a used 2006 HHR(still have it and it runs great). i was owned by a serv mgr at a local chevy dealer. along the way, he had put drilled/slotted rotors and semi-metallic pads on. awhile after i bought it, i started to get some strange noises from the front brakes. upon inspection, saw heat related cracks in both rotors. that was at about 35,000 miles. swapped the front rotors and pads with wearevers from advance auto parts. along with checking and adjusting the rears, of course..........now, with over 55,000, still braking with no problems at all. the pads/rotors were not the best but for a daily driver they have been working great...........
