This forum is awesome - buying an SS
I am so glad you folks are here, with your experiences and knowledge about these cars.
I have been looking at an '08 SS just across the state line and have been reading my butt off here, learning what I could about the SS and what to check.
Between here and the Facebook groups, I have gotten great info and suggestions and was able to recognize a toasted turbo when I finally got to drive the thing.
It was making a fluttering sound just in front of the passenger seat when accelerated and couldn't produce any significant boost.
In fact, it hit 10psi once, but was in vacuum pretty much the rest of the time.
That's ok, dealer is repairing/replacing as we speak so we can still work the deal. (Hopefully, the replacement is not an old one on its last legs!)
On top of that, he is willing to bring it 50+ miles to me to make the deal, since I can't really take a day off often to do stuff like that.
So, pending a satisfactory drive and download of clear codes with my OBDII dealie, I should be swapping my '09 LT for the SS within days.
I am pretty excited because, aside from the turbo, the thing drove like it was on rails and everything else seems to work (even OnStar and all speakers).
I really liked how tight the handling was, totally different from the wallowing, mostly-stock LT.
