Sirius/XM will bug the hell out of you if you don't want their services. Our Kia came with a three month trial and all during that period we were inundated with offers from them. By email, regular mail and by phone. Even though we were consistent in our responses that we weren't interested. The trial period just ended last week and we're still getting correspondence from them.

Yeah, they're persistent. They will sometimes give you "free extended trials" if you call them to cancel.

Fortunately, when I bought my HHR, I already had XM Radio, and I just had them switch the account over to the radio in the car.

I love it, but that's because I live in an area of WI where the pickings for radio stations is slim.

I very rarely listen to the radio. I have a 32gb thumb drive with my music on it. I set it at 'random' and I can drive for weeks without hearing the same songs.

When I signed up for my Onstar system, Onstar gave my name to XM and started my 3 months for free.

XM Billing

Also ... be careful. Sometimes in order to get that 'free intro' you need to provide a credit card. Then XM will try to bill your card for a full subscription when the free intro expires.

FWIW - If you decide that you like XM, then call the 1 - 800 number and talk to them directly. If you negotiate, they will give you a sweet deal. I am currently getting 6 months for 30 bucks. I have paid $100 for a year in the past. I think the normal rate is $140ish.
