Front struts?

2008 LS, 110K miles, moderate turns at low speed (parking etc.) causes kind of a low BOING sound. Quiet enough otherwise, and goes where I point it.

It got Moog stabilizer bar links at about 50K and Moog lower control arm bushings at about 90K.

Mechanic says it needs front struts and has quoted Monroes. Sounds OK because the old girl is getting a little bouncy in her old age, but wondering if I should look at all four corners, and also upgrade a bit, as I like to push it around the corners sometimes.

I was once coveting an Eibach spring/sway bar kit but that seems like a lot of hardware.

EDIT - It seems I can get a set of 4 Eibach springs that will lower the front 1.0" and the rear 1.6". Wonder If the sway bar links will be OK with that.

Thoughts?

Monroe's up front, KYB out back, TTR underneath = nice cornering (for me)

Your rears have been worn out for at least 40,000 miles.

Add a rear sway bar for cornering.

All four corners KYB, order two new upper strut bearing plates, a set of Canuck Motorsports lowering springs, 1 1/2 inch front , 2 inch rear and that TTR rear sway bar.
my front swaybar end links fit just fine.

Thanks for the thoughts. Contemplated the way I use this vehicle and decided the stock springs & sway bar will be fine... if I just have really good shocks/struts ...which, it seems, is almost harder to find that performance springs.

So far, KYB's on all 4 corners look just fine. Gonna snoop around and compare with Monroes.

Amazon "Price Choice" offers (2) shocks + (2) struts WITH SPRINGS for $120 shipped, apparently (WUT???) I know, I know, I'm not even thinking about it.

Search for Monroe Quick Struts on here. You will find results. I am not a fan, although they are easy to install.

Whoa! Really? How can that happen? If it was properly torqued, I don't think that's even a possibility. The mount maintains the clamp load, and not the bearing.

Must have been some kind of noisy, too, eh?

I’m thinking the centre nut on the strut rod could not back off , the friction area of the bearing plate isn’t enough to apply enough torque.
I believe it was simply buzzed with an air impact and that wasn’t enough torque to hold that but .
