I am puzzling over something as I try to get the best distance for my fuel bucks.
I drive a 2007 HHR LS, automatic:
It seems that when I run Chevron 87 I seem to get better mileage that Arco 87.
I mean, I could blame it on the techron, but I am not sure if that is it or not.

Around here, the stations did not have to post if they use 10% ethanol, but they will soon have too. So, some stations give better gas mileage than others (10% ethanol drops your mileage a little).

So it is possible for some gas to be better than others...at least in OK.

 

Speed will have a big difference also. This weekend I traveled (highway and city) for 34.o mpg at a constant 65 mph on the highway and the speed limit in the city.

yep its true in my 94 Blazer if I g o to arcco or some other cheap gas I get around 14-15 but at sheel or cheveron I would get a steady 16

 

The gasoline that is 10% ethanol is not always just 10%. My feeling is the cheap non-name brand stations mix more. We have measured up to 13% in gasoline before with our new handy dandy tester. More ethanol means reduced MPG. The maximum our cars can take is 15%, after that the vehicle is not going to run very good.

 

The Chevron that I fill up at here just put stickers on their pumps announcing that their fuel contains up to 10% Ethanol. I, too, have also felt like I get better gas mileage on Chevron that I do on the Home Depot fuel or Phillips 66 that I sometimes use.

 

Matt, Arco is the WORST and made Blackie drive sluggishly! I only went there as it was the least expensive (my sister says it just 'water'). Now I ONLY put Costco regular and Blackie loves it.

The new Costco in Tustin has a gas station--but that may still be far from Costa Mesa (I work at UCI so it's easy to stop in to fill up like I did this morning!).

Say "no mas" to Arco!

Actually, I am thinking of running chevron consistently, I like keeping my injectors clean! Their bathrooms are usually cleaner too!
