Fuel Grades

What fuel grade do you run in your HHR? Do you think the performance is affected by it that much?

I use 89 or better. Depends on the difference in price. Haven't noticed any drastic changes in performance from one grade to another. Most of the time I don't even remember which grade I have in the tank!

I haven't noticed any difference from one to the other...so I just get the regular unleaded.

Only 93. Where do you find 90 octane gas? Around here it's 87,89,91, or 93. I don't believe anywhere around here sells Ethanol but it makes no difference because the HHR isn't a flex-fuel vehicle so it can't use it.

being a gear head i have used all the grades in my 383 stoker engine and i must say it ran best on the high grade stuff 93 octane!! would not even start on caseys crap had to drain it in their lot!! I would say its more noticable in a bigger more performance engine but using cheap gas will cuse problems in the long haul dirty plugs, injectors, scaring in cylinders etc.. (you get what you pay for) i wouldnt put generic oil in my car so why use generic gas!!?? also you will get better gas mileage with a cleaner burning fuel so you realy dont save anything buy buyin the cheapest!! just have to buy more of it

you can run ethanol in your hhr
i used to run in a 1990 chev corica
7 yrs ago we have had ethanol in canada for about 9 yrs
good octane level
used to be half the price of gas now the same price
only bad thing is if you store your auto do not leave ethanol in system it will eat away the orings in the foue lines and injectors and tbi's

I use 91 here in California. The higher octane is recommended in the owners manual for the 2.4 engine, although not required.

I use my ol' grand pappy's moonshine. 100 proof. I reckon' my sled giddyups faster than a bullet out of a gun. I just use the 87 grade depending on the gas station. Once a month, I'll fill up with 93 just to clean out the injectors.

I was using plain old 87 octane until a couple of weeks ago. Now it seems that everyone has changed to the 10% ethanol mix. Mileage wise....seems to be the same.

I've just used 87 since I got mine back in Aug. No problems.
