Before we purchased our HHR we rented an 06 with the 2.2 and took it on a trip to the Missouri Ozarks. We got similar mileage to yours at 35 mpg. I was impressed. It is nice to see a car get better than the EPA estimate.

I just got done a 6 day 226 mile aday driving from San Diego to Long Beach, Noticed gas mileage is better in the 70-75 mph than it was at 80 mph.... now just see if i can keep my foot out of it on my cross country trip coming up soon.

That's gonna be hard to do. I always find myself creeping up to 90 on road trips.

I just did a weeks worth of intown driving and did 199 miles and used 7.6 gals
which is 26.18 mpg. The DIC reported my avg speed was 38mph. Not to shabby for a 2.4.

I just did a cross country trip from New York City to California in 72 hours by myself. Total miles was 3080. The best mileage was 34.8 mpg going between 68 to 72 mph. Anything faster and the mpg goes to crap. I think I filled up about 6 times total!! The HHR was loaded with my stuff and me so I was really surprised it got such good gas mileage. Also if anyone is making a long road trip and does not have a stubby antenna, get it! I removed my oem antenna after hearing the LOUD noise it makes hitting the roof. This usually happens when going above 70 and it being windy out, somewhere in Oklahoma I couldn't take the noise anymore. Also it left nice marks all over the roof.

We just took ours out for it's first out of town trip, just 400 miles round trip and got close to 34 mpg on the highway, on our 2007 LS. We'll be heading for Montana in a couple of months for our yearly camping trip to Glacier, so it should be interesting to see what kind of gas mileage we get when we're loaded with camping gear.

Don't go by what the DIC tells you as far as gas mileage. Keep your own stats. You'll find they're a bit lower! Traveling at about 65 mph will give you the best mileage with a 2.2L automatic. It's the only time I get over 30 (on the DIC).

I've made many trips and never heard the antenna make noise. I'll have to check the roof for dings. I understand the reception on the stubby antenna is really lousy.

I think I posted this somewhere on here before, but I average 27mpg.
I get about 430 miles per tank. It's a 2.2 L auto.
