Oh you just mean the head lights.......

 

I was having that problem, took mine to my best friend's dealership and put it on the light machine, I was high my millimeters, set them and problem went away and lights are still great. I also have 55w bulbs in the fogs and have them set to just touch the back edge of the low beams.

 

Every once in a while i have this happen to me, but majority of the times I have my fog lights on.

 

I always assume that I get flashed because of the fog lights, which I absolutely need to drive at night.

 

Happens to me sometimes, often by people in 4x4's....

 

Cargo or extra passengers lower the back end of your HHR. I did the 1 turn on the lowering to remedy the issue, did it on my Silverado for trailer towing.

I thought I had put some pics and a how to back in 2005 or 2006.

But here is another that explains. The up-down adjustment is next to your hood strut on the fender well.

And on my bike the headlight is adjustable while you are riding and I keep that adjusted as well depending on load conditions.

Seems simple to me - if people are frequently flashing you at night, it means your headlights are aimed a bit too high. The adjustment on the HHR (at least on the 2006) is almost too easy via the adjusters (all that is needed is a 6mm Hex wrench - not a torx! and adjust via the alignment socket which is located under the hood through the fenderwall at the rear of each headlight).

 

In my opinion it could be 1 of 2 things.
1) being a way of saying at 50mph hello I got one too....at least a quick flash in the daylite (not nice@nite!)
2) away of saying you need your headlights adjusted...(maybe you have a lawnmower or something heavy on the cargo area or a bike rack and bike causing the lites to point up.)
My guess is the first guess....
