Gotta love the look 2006 2LT but my "KEY"

is giving me major life problems . I,m stuck in Armonk NY . I live in NYC.
Car was bought two days ago . I chose AAA to tow it and fix . Anybody knowledgeable in the many issues of this anti theft key problem . problem started only would shut to ACC . Battry drainage led me to remove 50amp fuse in rear . DIscivered the pin on ignition to fully remove key . Then that day it would not start . All else worked so I left key in Run position - manually engaged the starter . It ran . Then I took it to a friends christening. It completely would not run anymore .

Now new ignition in waiting for tomorrow,s programming with many ?????
Thanks for any info.

There is no difference in the keys as to "master / valet".

Welcome. jx3 is right about the keys. I inquired about an extra key when I bought my 08 so I could just unlock the door. They (the dealer) said the only key was a programmed key which they then made an extra for me for free even tho it was about a $70 item at the dealer. (can buy keys about 15-20 buck on ebay then have it cut and easy program by yourself which is in the owners manual) Hope you get it fixed and have no other problems as long as you have it.

oneton,,, he misspelled DISCOVERED, hit the wrong computer keys like we all do at times.

No master is a relief . The mechanic said he put the ignition in . He will program tomorrow . I have been hearing from this site about the shift column problem . Hope it is not that .

Is the key turning off halfway the first symptom of the shifter not functioning correct . It would explain the no start condition . but one issue i had was the key removed from the ignition in any position . I know that cannot be right . So the new ignition was necessary

Still ??? But I am looking forward to normal operations in a really interesting
car .
Thanks again for the replies

Thanks for the help .All here ...
The forum might bring her back to life ...
By sheer respect for the car itself ..
Sometimes they get nasty with a new owner
to try and show their " power " .

Actually a car can make or break your day .. That is enough to be concerned if their is some strange connection . I know the HHR is
certainly mysterious with its modern but vintage look . Like it knows more
since it looks like my POP,s car and I,m way past 40 .

Got me stranded .. But I did go snow skiing the day after . Now I need it to
come back to me .
But I,m thinking that the symptoms of the shifter interlock gone bad is also a problem . but my keys came out of the ignition in any position .So there was definitely something wrong with the ignition . Hopefully not both went wrong (shifter also )
That seems like a :Chevy only " item
Thanks again for the support
