Had an Oh Deer Encounter over nite
I have a buddy from Michigan and several deer wiped out the side of his HHR. It was fixable, but he seems to have had several car-deer encounters in his life. I have been lucky so far although I had a squirrl commit suicide the other day running out in front of the HHR.
Some vehicles are magnets for suicidal wildlife, my Beretta was the Dr. Kevorkian of the car world. Hit one deer, got hit by four, and I had to replace the hood after being Kamikaze'd by a seagull near New Bern NC.
tats pretty intense! i almost hit a deer 4-5 months ago in the hhr thought it was a dog but it got real close real fast and real big real fast! missed its butt by inches... hate non ABS brakes. car smelled like burnt rubber for 3 days...

The shape of the front of the HHR is relatively 'safe' for animal impacts - everything curved / rounded. Also a lot of softer plastic as well.
I was on U.S. 395 near Mammoth in Calif, driving the wife's Explorer around 60 mph when 2 or 3 young deer jumped the guardrail on the right side. I swerved, but one hit the RT fender, windshield, front door and snapped off the mirror. Impact tripped the auto fuel-shutoff. Daughter sitting in the Rt front sprayed with glass and deer blood/hair. $4,500 in damage.....
