Headlight wiring connector

Headlight wiring connector
I have a 2006 LS and I exchanged my standard Halogen bulbs for some Xenon bulbs(non-HID) and noticed that my right headlight was very dim almost out, so I went to replace it I noticed that the connector to the bulb was melted and no longer useful. After calling half dozen auto parts places, ebay, and on-line stores, I cannot find this part. Has anyone here know where I can purchase this connector? It has two connectors one for each end. I believe the other end connects to the main power source for all lights but not really sure since its a little difficult to tell going through the wheel well cover to access the connector.

This might be a thing better left to your dealer's parts department, at least so you can get the part number and check with someplace like gmpartsdirect.com Unless someone here knows the part number offhand.
Oh by the way, welcome to the forum!

I did call one dealer that I bought my car from and the parts person said they don't stock them and it would cost around $150. I said no hell way and hung up. Either he didn't understand what I meant or they are insane. I will call a few more dealers tomorrow. Sorry forgot to mention that.

There are a lot of wrecked HHR's in the salvage/recycle yards. The part would be a lot cheaper. Just snip the end off your plug and splice in the replacement.
But I would really be concerned as to why the plug melted in the first place and try to find out why. Something overheated to extreme temps to cause the plug to melt.

Same thing is going on with my HHR. Driver side headlamp socket melted. I am concerned as to what caused it as well.
The replacement socket is avail at AutoZone and all over the web now.
AutoZone, RockAuto, eBay
Is this a common problem? Has anyone figured out what causes it?
I'm going to splice ina new socket but I assume there is a greater underlying problem causing the socket to overheat.
