well i just got thrown a curve ball.... fresh to the lot in a town close to me there is a Black 2LT with 16,000 miles and certified. they claim it will be priced at $16,300 which is below KBB. They emailed me pictures and this thing is loaded

leather
Remote start
chrome everything

Its more than what i wanted to spend but with the gm certified warranty it adds 12k or 1 year to the original warranty....

It looks like a great deal but Im going to still try to be out the door at 17,000 or 17,500

Drove HHRvey off the showroom floor in January of 2006. It is a 1LT automatic and it runs great! Still get 24MPG around town, and 28 HWY depending on the weather and terrain. The only issue was with the steering column which was fixed under warranty a few months after I bought it. NO problems since then.

I occassionaly hear the "clunk" noise, but it hasnt affected the performance of the car in any way. It is reliable, handles well on road trips, and is very versitile in the kind of cargo it can haul. I once carried 24 folding chairs, and 5 card tables to a wedding, and they fit perfectly. It is great that the front passenger seat folds down to make extra room.

As many have said, and rightly so, no car is perfect but the HHR comes pretty close. You do get quite a few perks in the standard equipment for your money. Not only that, it really is fun to drive!

you didn't say what year, but an 08 2lt with 16k. specs out as follows

trade-in: 11,050
private party: 13,190]
suggested retail 15,750

my opinion is its too expensive, maybe in the 13k range

besides don't forget Black is a pain to keep clean

They can do better than that...never go for the initial price. My '06 1LT was priced at $15,999 in September.... I bought it in February for $10,800. They have room to negotiate.

I will post pictures soon, my kids love the back and fight over who gets to ride there, we got a big pillow for them back there. I found it works great, a friend took jumpseats out of a s10 and did something similar in a Cherokee, we have found that this works just as good, I purchased the seat belt at Checker Auto and the pillow at Costco....

Granted I have had a few issues with my 07, but I still would not give it up. I love the styling, handling, and especially the fuel mileage. I typically get 27 mpg just back and forth to work (14 miles one way). As for versatility, it has plenty of room in back for all manner of object. Plus, I installed a hitch on mine (even though it is a 5-speed) and I use it to tow everything from trailers containing building materials and motorcycles to a pop-up camper. I have plans to get a T@B Clamshell Camper this year. Every make and/or model of car will have some problems. If you want something with minimal chances of problems – Go Buy A Bicycle.

make sure you tell the salesman, give me your lowest price, if it is better than the other dealer, the best deal wins
