I know it's not a junkyard piece, just trying to make a point. It's a crate engine that sat. How bad could it be?
I like the headers, turn them up like tractor pullers do, put internal baffles in the collectors with a rain cap.

I'm not too worried, doesn't get much tougher than a sbc. I'll pop off the covers, spin it a few times, and check oil pressure. I'm sure it'll be fine. Thanks for the info and ideas.

I thought about running headers straight up and out. I don't think I want it that loud all the time, maybe I'm getting old I'll let y'all know how it goes with the engine here in a few hours.

Look into baffles. Being an "Old fart" that you are these can make you happy.

Loud so, throw in a y to the exhaust system and cap the headers
