HHR Rental
HHR Rental
Well went to Florida last week, (only way to get warmth and sunshine living in MA) and found a 2010 HHR base model for my rental for the week. It was silver just like mine. I felt very comfortable driving a veh. I'm used to, but the point of this post is after driving an HHR with the 2.2 for a week I have a new appreciation for my 2008 HHR SS. the rental was about as fast as my 62 Corvair wagon, (which isn't fast) Once it got going it would cruise at 80 mph but it took forever and had no steam after or leading up to it. I am not knocking it, it just made me realize how fast our SS is. I highly recomend anyone who has forgotten how fast their SS is, rent a base HHR and I promise you will fall in love all over again with your SS. Mine doesn't even wake up until 80 mph, not to even mention the acceleration thrill. Even my daughter noticed the difference and would joke about it. Also a point of interest, the whole week in Florida I didn't see one HHR SS, only regular ones.
Have a great 4th of July weekend and Please remember, Freedom isn't Free!

I have had many Rental LT HHR's.
While I love the power of the SS the LT 2.2 was not bad compared to most normal small 4 cylinder cars. I never has the fear grip merging into traffic with the car.
If getting onto a freeway is a pain then I feel the car is a real dog. THe LT passed the test. It is not a race car but it is by no means underpowered.
I was shock with the 2.4 DI NOX that is out. At near 4000 pounds it runs really well with the 6 SP auto. and beating it hard I got 25 MPG around town.
GM has a good engine in the Eco.

before we bought an SS we rented a 2.4 for a weekend, and the only thing we didn't like was the placement of the window buttons, it was nice to see them moved to the doors on the SS. I will say, the 2.4 was fun, but the SS feels more reassuring in traffic, having more pedal to play with.

My next Corvair will most likely be a Rampside or Greenbrier, won a trophy with my 64 Convt. yesterday at a local car show. Who knows, maybe years from now our HHR SS will be in a classic show, though I don't know if I'll be around to know, LOL!
