I believe that the HHR is allowed to tow a 1000# trailer and since you must have a large percentage of the weight on the trailer tong/hitch, you could easily use the set up shown in sbrice54's post. Unless you have a much larger and heavier scooter. IMHO

With a maximum towing weight of 1000 lbs, the max tongue weight would be 150 lbs. I would expect that the hitch and it's mount design are probably designed around that limit - ???? That would have to include the weight of the scooter and it's platform - and would be pretty hard to find such a combination with the 150 lb weight limit. A bicycle mount yes, but I doubt a scooter and the required mount.

That unit weighs 87 lbs. I have a similar scooter shown. It weighs maybe 50 lbs. I wouldn't be scared to try it.

Cool - at those weights, it's likely doable - it would be interesting to see how it works on the HHR.

Listen, you MAY wish to peruse the GM Mobility website. Maybe even contact your GM dealer and or GM Mobility directly. When I worked for GM, I referred a lot of people to this group. They always seemed to be accommodating and willing to answer questions and help. Here's the web site link.........

Post vehicle lits

yeah, i wrestle my wife's power chair up a set of folding ramps. Bit of a PITA & I wouldn't want to try loading it in the rain or snow! So did a little research and here's a site that has various solutions for transporting scooters/wheel chairs. Couple of exterior lifts will fit a class I receiver. Of course they cost mucho$$$ brand new, but insurance may pay for some of it & ..."All Bruno lifts are eligible for reimbursement under the terms of Mobility Programs offered by GM, Honda, Hyundai, Subaru, Chrysler (Dodge, Jeep), Ford, Toyota, Lexus, Volvo and Volkswagen."

Bruno Vehicle Lifts (click "Wagons/Hatchbacks")

this one weighs 65 lbs, so it's max. vehicle tongue weight minus 65 lbs equals load carrying capacity.

This one can carry/has weight limit of 350 lbs (power chair class & power $$$)

Here's a permanently mounted lift to store a scoot/chair inside vehicle

So if you got the insurance/cash, these should fit an HHR. Hope this helps
