This was popular when I was a kid, but I thought that the commercial tracks went the way of the dinosaur. Good to see that commercial slot car tracks are still around. Great hobby. And great to see that an HHR is going to grace one of the tracks.

Brings back lots of good memories. I did the slot car thing back in 1965, commercial 1/32 scale. I built 3 tracks for a club racing, last one about 100 feet 5 lanes in buddies basement. Then got back into it again in 1996 commercial 1/24 scale. In the old days we built our own floppy chassis frames out of brass tubing and brass plates, and wound and balanced our own motors, modified the controllers, painted the bodies. Had lots of fun!!! Can't wait to see your finished paint job.

This one's for show only!

I dont know if this one will ever hit the track as it's dangerous out there.
Plus it's a body for a 4" chassis which is the shorter length (they have 4.0" & 4.5" chassis). There is no race class (or division) for this type of body. It's not a NASCAR or a Dirt Late Model body (which is pretty much all they race). Plus they race on Oval tracks mostly & there is no where to hide when somebody is comin' after your new car haha

re

i didnt know they had limited the classes so much...back in olden days you could "run what ya brung" - they did have classes but there were several plus open - you could have an indy car running against a 40 ford
my dad and i would run mostly stock car bodys painted up like regular street cars and maybe a few 32 fords and things - the indy car guys were the worst - they would come out of the groove and take out 3 cars
