Didn't they say that there was no such thing as a "stealth bomber" for a long time too?

Well, I’ve officially killed my deal on a new 2008 HHR LT with the hopes of ordering an HHR SS later this year. This is just killing me because I fought with the dealer for two days to get the price I wanted for my 2003 PT Cruiser Turbo trade in… and they just gave it to me! I guess it will be back to the drawing board in a few months. I hope Chevrolet is not crazy with pricing of these things (and that there will be an automatic option as well). Let the wait begin...

Gosh, I hope your not disappointed, by waiting!! But, I'd be willing to bet the dealers do a over MSRP mark-up on the SS. Something like $2000-3000 over the "sticker" price. That's what the always do with an initial entry "hot" vehicle.

The dealer said that they didn't really have any other interested parties, so I'm hoping to be one of the first orders in before it's deemed "hot" by the dealer (hopefully missing any markups). I also may have access to an employee discount at that time; let's hope the dealership takes it...

Hope your right. But most of the time, the markup is on the first vehicles to the dealer. The Solstice and the Sky, for example, weren't even in the dealers yet and they took orders with the idea the car was marked-up $2500 over invoice. The Sales Manager and General Manager make those decisions.

But, those 2 vehicles were in limited production. Course the SS may be as well.

Not trying to rain on your parade. Just making some comments for you to consider.

Not much, as a trade......maybe $10,000. For a "ball park" look it up on KBB.com

Buying a car is like buying a computer..you get what you want and within a year a new snazzier model comes along that you wished you waited for..

I was going to say the same thing about a woman but my wife just cuffed me a good one for even mentioning it

Seriously you can wait forever and there will almost always be something better the next year or 2 coming out. I had a Saturn Vue so the windows are no prob for me..in fact when I drive a rental I'm alway looking to the console for the windows

If anything though I'd love tio be able to snag an SS grill.....those things are bad
