HHR's and snow drifts do not mix...
Here in the midwest we have had a little bit of severe weather. Maybe you heard. I wanted to park my car inside before the nastiness hit. My lovely girl is involved in theatre, and has put much of her shi...er..stuff in the garage - a place that is sacred to me. In the interest of keeping the peace - and not having a heart attack - I have tried to remain patient for her to get the things out of there, so that I could park my car in. Last November I finally caved and got a 24 foot x 32 foot storage unit. We have started moving some of the stuff over there - but, alas - nothing from the garage, yet. So Tuesday night as the worst is starting to hit we take my car over to the storage unit...bad idea. I was trying to bust through some of the drifts to get to my storage unit when I high centered the HHR in a drift. To add insult to injury - I got out of the car at one point...leaving it in gear...the wind blew the door shut which promptly locked behind me...
So there I am, in 50 mph winds, snow hitting my face like a sandblaster - trying to figure out how to get into my car...as it was high centered, wheels kicking up snow, all within 20 feet of the door to my storage unit...I had to have the girlfriend take me home get my keys, go back, shut off the car, and call a friend with a plow...
This weekend we clean out the garage. Cold weather be damned.

Hahaha, sorry Amigo, but that's some kinda funny story. So if I'm reading this right...your car was locked, in gear, running and you had to leave it? I can just imagine the fear of coming back to it not being in the same spot (or gone for that matter). YIKES!
glad to hear it all worked out in the end..same thing here yesterday..mini austin..lady got out..it took off up the 400..unattended..thank god no one got hurt..including yourself..ida loved to see the look on your face when the door slammed shut!!!doh!!!!dont feel bad..we all have our Homer moments..FYI..little magnet box..hide it well..
Amigo; Glade every thing OK Now that I have my breath back. Got to say your humility is commendable most of us would not have shared that experience. It kind of reminds me of my four wheeling days I had a J40 land cruiser equipped with a chevy 454 and a 400 turbo tran (that leaves 11"for drive line) oh course I thought it was invincible found myself High centered more than a couple times. It's a uniquely helpless feeling so I can feel your pain and thanks for sharing.
Man alive, that could have turned out ugly. Glad you're OK and that you got out of the situation with only bruised dignity. Spring is coming, hard to believe sometimes, but they tell me its on the way.
