High milage hhr

I am looking for a car for my mother in law. I have found a few 06 hhrs with 150,000 to 180,000 miles on them. I don't have a problem with high miles on a car because I do my own work. I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what to look for in a high milage hhr. she don't have alot of money and in all reality I will be paying for it so a nice hhr that i will enjoy working on makes sence to me. so far i have found a few for about 5000,00 with high miles on them. Thanks for your thoughts

The most important thing would be the maintenance history of the prospective HHR, high miles aren't anything to be afraid of....as long as the vehicle has been maintained.

Of course you have to check the usual trouble spots on an HHR...

Sway bar end links.
Sway bar bushings.
Lower control arm bushings.
Brakes front and rear.
Struts and shocks.
Corrosion on the door bottoms in the snow belt areas.

And most important of all, make sure the title is clean and that the vehicle has no accident history or flood damage.
