How do I keep gas off my finish?
dammit dammit dammit
I've had my tank filled twice and both times the knuckleheads leave gas spilled on the paint. What's the solution for these idiots other than a gas nozzle upside the head?
I don't go to the self-serves because I pumped it as a kid (AND NEVER SPILLED ANY, EVEN AND ESPECIALLY ON MOTORCYCLES) and the stink on my hands lasts all day so I get somebody else to do it now and I have to wash off the gas AND GET STINKY ANY WAYS.
What do I have to do? Mask off the rear quarter panel?

Just do it your self I use only Sunoco and I think they are all self serve and have never got gas on my hands in years.Since they put those big rubber splash rings on the nozel it doesn`t happen anymore.
Go buy yourself a box of latex gloves for $4.49 from Princess Auto and pump your own.Nobody care`s anymore about good service the guy has to call or tex his buddies you interupted him.

What he said !
Back in my day of pumping gas at Grand Dad's Atlantic station I would shut off the pump when it clicked off. In this way there was always change to give back, most of his customer's would then tell me to keep the change, LOL. But then I was checking the oil and washing the windshield on every car. Some weeks I would get more in TIP'S than Grand Dad would pay me.
But then I got to work on my '57 Chevy any time there was an empty bay.
The GOOD Old Day's

The GOOD Old Day's
Way back when I worked at Grand Dad's Atlantic station I would always stop the pump when it clicked off. This way there was almost always change to be handed back and most of the time the customer was thankful for my checking the oil and washing the windshield by giving me the lose change.
Some weeks I made more in tip's than Grand Dad paid me. LOL But on the other hand I had the use of an empty bay when I wanted to work on my junker.

Working in the Gas Station
That was the fringe benefit of working in a gas station. We probably changed our oil once a month, washed our cars three times a week for free - inside where it was heated and it was the hangout for everyone. We made $1,90 per hour and it honestly was the best job I ever had.
