How do you think the HHR handles in the snow?

As an experienced driver of over 40 Buffalo winters, most with RWD the problem with my HHR in snow is the traction control. It's a plus in some conditions but for heavy snow I disengage it and take control of the throttle. It may be the one time I think I'm smarter than a computer. Any FWD with right tires is good in snow. you just need to be smart behind the wheel. The wife drives a 97 Corrolla and anything less than the the Blizzard of 77 wont keep her from heading out to Canada Bingo!

I have a 08 SS with stock tires on it.. and I was able to get out of my parking spot with out doing any shoveling.. It was awesome.Don't get me wrong it didnt just pull out but if can work it back and forth(not rocking) but pulling forward as far as you can go, stop completely and then back up and stop completely when you can no longer move. I found it works best if you dont spin the tires because then you dont dig holes. The snow i was in was not light either it was hard packed from the snow plows passing where I park. I had snow everywhere around and under my car. Sorry the pics are a little dark but i am trying to show how much snow I drove out of.

Like many have said tires are the major factor of how you get around. You don't need the soft winter tires but a better quality all season will do the job for most.

But this also happens on rew and you onlyu lose the steering when it rides up on the snow.
This is not something that happens often and a smart driver can still work throught it.
I agree there are times electronics are good and bad. I like it with the FWD as if you lose traction you lose not only traction but steering. On RWD I can go with out very easy. Just give me a limited slip diff and away we go.
