48.21 Cents per gallon in gas taxes for Maine residents according to the American Petroleum Institute, we've got you beat here in North Carolina at 48.29 Cents per gallon in gas taxes with a proposed 12 Cent increase before the State House.
We're holding at an average of $1.93-$1.97 a gallon for Regular, a big determining factor to also consider is how close you are to a refinery or pipeline.

For me it was bad, really bad. Here in at Bellingham WA next to the Canadian border we have two refineries within 5 miles of my house. Up until the prices started dropping, we had the highest gas prices in the USA. Now, like everybody, we're getting down under "2". Saw $1.89 yesterday.
