Technically the first click it is 'quiet' and locks the doors. It is the second click that toots the horn and flashes the lights--I was told this is what sets the alarm

I had the horn chirk at the beginning, but thatgot old and annoying at night around the house so i went silent w/ just the lights.

Upon leaving the car, i usually just hit the lock button on the drivers door, it dings a few times and locks all doors something like 5 secs after the last door is closed.

Most times going to the car, i remote start it b4 i get to it. My wife thinks i'm showing off that i now have a car w/ a key fob, but it's more for just starting the engine and getting the oil flowing a lil sooner than if i just got in the car.

Morning/first starts i remote start it from the house, just for that lil extra run time.(only a minute or two)

The alarm will set doing anything but locking the door with the key. Trust me. I found out at a motel when the fob on the rental was not working.

I've learned that if I lock the car with the lock switch, open it with the key.If I lock it through the remote,I open it with the remote. That way there's no annoying alarm going off.I've only been surprised a couple of times when I forgot the routine.

Horn and lights for now; but personally, I'm waiting for the Trunk Monkey option for the HHR!
