I got this mod idea

I got this mod idea.. its way over my head, ability and budget... but somebody might be capable.. look at this pic of the 49 chevy...

wouldn't it be cool to have the rear door open "old skool" style.. like a door instead of a hatchback...

I think they are doing "split" doors. Either way would be cool though.

This is not a member HHR but a Godfather Customs HHR which was done in 2005 or 2006. I do believe though that someone here is either doing this, or making it a double opening back door.

I would love it if the rear hatch opened from the side. Being tall, I hit my head on that hatch all the time. Also, I once had an Isuzu Trooper with a split door but the split was to one side. It was so easy to access the rear, even with a trailer attached.

Naturally I can't find the thread on this site, but someone in this group was converting the rear hatch into barn doors. If I remember correctly, the lastphotos posted showed the doors as being rough mounted. Someone with a better train of thought may be able to pull this info up.
