Because, I am looking to upgrade my headlights in the HHR and the high beams in the Vette, I've been doing a lot of research.

According to what I discovered, Silverstars HAVE THE BEST WARRANTY IN THE BUSINESS........1 year (plainly stated on the rear of the package). Those users that have had failures should enforce the warranty offer.

I did not select Silverstars because they did not provide the light spectrum I was looking for.....4200-4400K....which matches the low beam HID's in the Vette. Hella Blue Xenon, which I ultimately selected, is professed to be 4200K. Well they are brighter but still emit the Yellowish color I was trying to eliminate. They have a 180 day warranty, which does not apply in my circumstance.

my silverstars only last at the most a year. I am getting tired of this. I replaced the left head a month ago now the right on is out. I want to try HID but not sure which ones to go with

Thanks for the info. My son got me a set for Christmas and I haven't installed them yet.

Based upon the info from the group, I think that I'll just leave the stock bulbs in the HHR (because they are so difficult to replace) and use the Silverstars in my S10 Pickup (bulbs are a cinch to replace).

I use the pickup much more than my HHR anyway. At least in the winter when it's dark for a longer part of each day.

im thinking im going to go HID as well, but i will be using a bi-xeon setup so i have a high and a low, theres some really good ones out there now that actually point the bulb up or down so you dont blind oncoming traffic.

Masterchief -

Let me know which HID's you select. Just drove Mom's Maxima with Xenon's...love them.

3-4 months to 5+ yrs. That's pretty wide range. I'm wondering what can cause such a short life. Day running lights, temp/humidity, rough roads, or just a bad batch of these left the factory? I wanted Silverstars but this thread has me putting them on hold till I learn more about them.

My first set lasted a few days short of 21 months (41,263 miles) and they both went out at exactly the same time, which I find highly unlikely, or one went out that I didn't notice and then the other went out shortly after. It sure got dark all of a sudden...

But, I like them enough that I wouldn't mind if they had to be replaced yearly even at $35.00 a pair. Next set I'm going to try the Silverstar Ultra and see if there is a difference.
