Welcome to the forum!

The first symbol is the Brake Warning Light, it means that there is a fault in the braking system that demands immediate attention, continued driving with the light illuminated is unsafe. You should have your brakes/braking system checked as soon as possible.

The second symbol is the Check Engine light, it means that a fault has been detected with one of the engine's systems.

If you have an auto parts store near you, have them pull the trouble codes from your HHR's computer. Then post them so we can give you an idea of what may be malfunctioning, where it's located, and how to go about addressing the problem.

You do realize there are may sensors in the HHR. When you get the codes, that will direct you to what sensor is having an issue.

If the light illuminates then goes off for a while, then it comes back on again, it means you have a fault that is intermittent. The condition that triggers the light comes and goes, it could be something as simple as a bad cap on the fuel fill.

If the Check Engine light is flashing, then you have a misfire condition where one or more cylinders is misfiring.

Without the trouble codes stored in the computer, its impossible to tell you where the problem is, there are too many sensors....and too many other malfunctions....to say where to even begin looking.

It might not be emissions related at all.

If those light only come on when the key is "on" engine "off" that is normal, it is a test for the lights working. The answer to the location of the sensor is "just about everywhere" There are at least 10 sensors that I can think of, they all tie into the computer.

Wait a minute, I think he's talking about the codes on the DIC display "DI224 kPa 236DD" & "TI272 kPa 256TD". I have no idea What those could be.

I think the HHR should have come with an OBD-@ can from Chevy.

That is for the TPMS; in metric and Spanish. "DI224 kPa 236DD" is the LF and RF tire pressures (224 kPa and 236 kPa) and "TI272 kPa 256TD" is the LR and RR (272 kPa and 256 kPa. You need to adjust you tire pressures. They should be 240 kPa.

Translation for those who need it:
DI=(Delantero Izquierdo)-left front, DD (Delantero Derecho)-right front, TI (Trasero Izquierdo)-left rear, and TD (Trasero Derecho)-right rear.

All you have to do is set your tire pressures to the proper cold pressure which is 35 PSI which converts to 240 kPa. Check the tire pressure tag on you door jamb.
