I've had issues with wheel weights before also. Alot of the time it's the punk kid making minimum wage that doesn't really give a rat's a$$. Other times they reuse weights, and they just don't hold anymore. I've also experienced some alloy wheels have a thick bead flange that will only accept certain weights. Have had the best luck with stick on weights like Craig mentions, but I always wipe the inner rim with lacquer thinner before I go so they adhere properly, then once I get home with the assemblies I use a fine sharpie to trace around the weight cluster(in case they launch, you can replace easily without going to the tire shop), lastly I use a tiny bead of gray RTV around the perimeter of the weights...I've yet to lose one after doing this. I don't have alloy wheels balanced with weights on the visible side anymore, they just don't look good! Steel wheels are OK because they either have a hubcap or trim ring covering them!

Really great info, IMO, jeffs396.

I do exactly the same, sans the RTV.
