Ignition key Problem

I know this has been posted in the past, seems after reading it I had the problem with the key not turning all the way off. Had to use the override to get it out for a bit but now got it fixed. Funny thing, my niece has an HHR, neighbors behind me has two, and another lady in town has one. All seemed to have the same problem all in the same week as mine. 5 HHRs to the shop

Were they all 06's, or were some of them newer? I know it was common on the 06s but one can only hope that they improved the design for later years!

Smile Ignition Key Problem

I see some of you are having problems " GETTING THE KEY OUT " ??

My problem is getting the key to turn the key switch to start the engine ? I have found that if the weather is very cold this will happen ? But at times I can try both key's for 10 + minutes before it will turn & start.
This has happened 17 times so far this winter. I have tried moving the steering wheel, played with the auto shifter as much as it will move, pushed on the break pedal and still will not turn ?
I have also found if I leave it sit for an hour or more it may turn right off ?
I've had it to the dealer several time, unless they can see it not turn they will not do anything. I have asked to see the TSB letter on the shifter switch and they will not show it to me ?
Has anyone else had this same problem ? I have never had it were I could not get the key out.
Oh, I have an 06 1 LT 2.4
Thanks for any help....

Add me to this list. I plan on giving the local dealer a call and set up an appointment. Doesn't do it all the time, but when it does it sure makes me

I had problems both turning the key on and getting it out intermittently before mine finally had a catastrophic failure. The dealer might not do anything until you reach that level, also. But, when it happens, have them replace the shift mechanism. I've had no problems since then.
