I'm about to do it too !
I must say that the encounter with the dealer "financial advisor" was rather painful. I hate pushy sales people and this one was nasty: prying to sell me a $2500 extended warranty
Just curious if they gave you any specifics about the extended warranty?
Last time I looked at it, the extended warranty was "messed" up by the fact you now get a 5yr/160,000 km powertrain warranty, so the powertrain coverage in the extended warranty would be useless.
to the happy world of HHR ownership.May you have a long and enjoyable time.
But as to that pressure about the extended warranty,I think that they are just all profit for the dealers.Never bought one and never will.
I must say that the encounter with the dealer "financial advisor" was rather painful. I hate pushy sales people and this one was nasty: prying to sell me a $2500 extended warranty, then an electronic rust protection gimmick, then some life / disability insurance, then some GAP insurance extention. I almost walked out at some point, when she became argumentative about how incredibly irresponsible I was not to buy the rust gimmick. (I know it doesn't work, I've researched the subject before).
Most "financial advisers" are simply regular salespersons who have been around longer and have gone through the training. Often times they actually make more commission on the sale than the actual car salesperson does through getting you to go through predatory lenders and buying worthless extras. It's called payment packing.
The most horrible thing I ever saw when I was selling iron was a deaf couple who came into my showroom looking to unload an '04 Impala they'd bought from a Chevy lot down the road. It was a program car that they were making a $750 a month payment on for 84 months. No options, nothing. The car was worth maybe $8,000 wholesale. They got taken soooo bad it wasn't even close to funny. The other lot had sold them a program car at full MSRP, and packed the payments with the full load of worthless extras. To top it off, they told them not to put any money down and got them credit through Credit Acceptance, which is probably the most predatory of all lenders out there.
Just curious if they gave you any specifics about the extended warranty?
As a religion, I never buy extended warranties on anything; over the years, I'm now self insured with all the money saved. The odd time that something breaks, I can choose who fixes it and how it gets fixed, because I'm paying for it. And I don't have to argue with anyone about why the claim should be accepted.
This Thursday at 4:30 is when I get to pick it up! I'll have my 2 girls (5 & 8) with me and I think we'll go for a short ride and stop for burgers somewhere on the way home.
