Im Out-Sold It

Sold the SS.....just too small for a 6'2" tall guy to drive day to day.....neat car, some pros and some cons....all in all not too bad. Definately worth buying a well cared for used one......wouldn't buy brand new GM again, the resale is awful. Cheers

being short, I don't have that problem but I did have a tall person in the car recently and they just plain didn't fit.

I am 6'2" and have NO problem whatsoever with fitting in. Like a hand in a glove if you will. It's cozy.

The resale issue is just a by product of the GM finacial melt down. That is already being addressed in several ways and should no longer be an issue.

No matter what model you buy if it is big in fleet sales and rental cars it is going to suck. Many Korean car owner will soon find this out too.

Cars like the Equinox are now being replaced with the Chevy version of a Vue in rental fleets. It is a car that is not sold to the public and will have little effect on car buyers. GM will do more of this in the future and protect buyers.

The other issue is many people plain payed too much to start. The prices I see what people paid here scare the hell out of me.

I've been looking for a used car for my daughter, and I started by looking for HHRs. But since the HHR has only been around since 2006, I can't get a real cheap one. There are some priced right around the $10K range, but I wanted something <$6K. If you figure someone paid $18K for a base model in 2006, and it is now 5 years old and has 80-100K miles, and it is worth around $8K in trade, that isn't too bad of a deal.

In general, people are paying a good amount of money for economy cars on the used car market right now. Full size sedans and SUVs are not faring so well. I saw a lot of Exploders and Expuditions for pretty reasonable prices. Trucks, especially 4WD, seem to be keeping their value fairly well.

Any brand new car's resale price is going to be bad. It pays to buy a car that is a least a couple of years old so someone else takes the huge depreciation hit.

Resale on any new car is terrible, always has been. Either buy one that is a couple of years old, or buy new and plan to keep it for 12 to 15 years. Thats been what I have done, and since I can take care of them from new, I have had few problems with them over the years.
