Well just got an email from the dealer asking me how I felt about the car. I replied telling him that I really like the car but the trade in is what is holding the deal up. I was offered 10K on my Matrix by a dealer 1 town over about a month ago but didn't want the color on the HHR. I said if we can get to that number we probably have a deal.

Waiting to hear back.....probably gonna tell me thanks for the visit but as Howie would say "No Deal" if so I'll move on to the next dealer. There is a Golden Teal with cloth Ebony with fogs waiting in the wings...that is the one I'd need the boards put on...that car was offered at 17399(including boards) BEFORE my military, GM $$ and trade incentive..no chrome, leather or ABS..not must haves but I will say the leather is nice

Waiting.................................

Trades are a pain in the butt to deal with. They will always low ball you. Hope this one works out. Especially since it has what you want.

I had leather in my truck, personally, I could not wait to get back to cloth. Leather in SC during the summer truly is a PITA.....

Well he came back and upped it to 9K...still too low for me...he sort of dismissed the 10K trade at the other dealer as "not real money" and "the bottom line number is what is important" Well it went like this....other dealer gave me a price...price was bottom line after rebate. he offered me 10K for trade...thought thought thought...at the 11th hour I passed because I decided that I would not be happy with the color in the long run

I'm not sure what this dealer means by not real money? It was pretty crystal to me. 17K for the car and the 10K on your trade washes any addition to the price and any subtraction because it pays my trade off. Seems like the amount for me would have been 17000...am I missing something here?

I also added that their doc fee was 110 dollars more than the first dealers also (279 vs 169)

Probably not making any friends eh? If he comes back and says ok 10K on the trade I will make the deal....BUT they need to replace the 2 front mudguards...they have been scraped up and worn a bit as they have the car out front on an island(as the pic shows) and every time they put it up and down it rubs on the guards

Pushing my luck? lol

If I go through with this (which 99% going to) I have to give a shout out to hhrcrafty for helping me with these numbers..without him I may have either walked or spent quite a bit more

Yeah...I left a message asking for the mudflap replacement.....if they were scuffed a little bit I'd might let it pass but one of them is pretty chewed where there are even strands of plastic hanging a bit.

I'm sure he is going this guy wants everything! Am I reaching here on the flaps?

No, I to you! TAKE THE DEAL--YOU GOT WHAT YOU NEED!

Mudflaps are cheap, so if they won't do it, take the deal anyway. You rock

Well just put a deposit down on it over the horn so it looks like we are in business. He said that he thought they could match the rate(or beat it) that my Credit Union has (Pentagon Federal CU) at 5.79..we will see..waiting for a call back right now...hopefully they don't try to snow me under here with the finance guy
