Unfortunately I'm an hour away and have small children in tow during the day. If things aren't resolved by the weekend I'm planning on driving up, though. Surely they'd have someone there on a Saturday who could make things right, don't you think?

It sounds like they are giving you voice mails instead of letting you talk to a human. I would call them back and tell them you want to talk to a person NOW and not leave a message. When I was dealing with my dealership regarding the running board issues I asked to talk to whoever was in charge of the Parts/Service Department. They said he was busy and I could leave a voice mail and I said...no I'll hold and lo and behold, he came on the phone right away.

Unfortunately some places think that if a woman calls they can blow her off...but I showed them differently. It's hard to say who would be there on Saturday...and how much authority they have to authorize anything. You might also call and talk to your salesman (and if he's the one you're leaving messages for and no return calls, ask to speak to his boss). If you don't get any satisfaction, ask to talk to the General Manager of the dealership and explain the problem and how unhappy you are.

I told my dealership when I was having problems that I would not recommend them to anyone I knew until I could also recommend their service as well. I also told them that I belonged to HHR forums online and that I would be happy to recommend buyers (not only HHR...but Chevrolet models in general) to them once I knew I could work with them. Now when I call or go up there, they know who I am and I get A-1 service and no BS. In fact...when I walk into the dealership they say hey Deb...how's the new HHR?

I had a VERY similar problem a few years back with my wife's Honda CR-V: She took it in for an oil change, and when she went to pick it up, they had done all of the additional stuff they said the manufacturer suggested. The bill went from $30 to $370. We were furious, seeing as we had only signed the paperwork allowing them to do an oil change ONLY. I told my wife to leave it there, which she did. I ended up meeting her there and did the following: I parked it in the middle of one of their service bays, took the keys out, locked it, and left it there. I gave the service guy our cell number and told him to call me when he wanted us to pick it up - that, or they could tow it out of the way, it was up to them. Bottom line was, we weren't paying for service we didn't authorize - their service guy basically f'd up! That was a Saturday - the next Monday, the Service Manager called us on our cell and apologized, saying they had "reviewed their paperwork" and confirmed that my wife had only authorized an oil change. When we went to pick up the vehicle, I had a long discussion w/the service guy and service manager, telling them that car dealerships that give women bad service only support their bad images. While there, it was very obvious that the service manager was furious as to what had transpired; you could tell the service guy had gotten reamed! Needless to say, when we went to buy her next vehicle (Honda Pilot), we went to a different dealership and got WAY better service. I say take it there, park it, and do something they don't expect - getting channeled into someone's voice mail continually is a pain in the a**! Good luck, no matter what!

I love that!!! Certainly got their attention. Sometimes you just have to get a little feisty or they try and walk all over you...and that just isn't right.

To baby and Bcfry: We bought our '99 S-10 from the Chevy
guys in Newton before we moved out here to Tenn in '99.
They treated us right and very fair.
In fact on one of our many trips back, they even changed
the oil in it for us for free! They said they were glad
we thought enough of them to come back.

That has never happened to us before or since.

Deb is right, you need to make them correct your problems,
and they most likely will, but you will have to stick to it.
In fact take the kids along and let 'em raise a little hell
while you are there and tell the dealership, "I ain't leaving
till its right!" I think that will movaite them pretty fast.

But anyway, glad to have ya aboard the forums.

And if ya wanna chat about old times, let us know.
We lived in Wichita for over twenty five years, worked at
Boeing, Cessna and Wescon on the west side.

Ever hear of Air Force One? Yep, I made it all by myself,
along with 2500 others... Heck, I got picture to prove it!

I've made two more calls today. We'll see if anyone calls back. Tuesdays are "lady's day" at this particular dealership. While on hold the owner's wife had a little message about coming in for discounted oil changes, free manicures and sweedish massage. Hmmmm....if I don't hear anything this week I may load all the kiddos up next Tuesday, dump them (making sure to NOT change their diapers for awhile before hand) in the manager's office and go get pampered until they decide to fix my darn car!!

*deep breath*

We're often in Park City, as the in-laws reside there. If you see a crazy woman driving a white HHR honking and waving like mad you'll know it's me.

...what a relief, I thought I was the only one that felt that happy about her HHR!
