General HHR Discuss anything related to the Chevy HHR that doesnt seem to fit into the more specific categories below.

It just doesn't make much sense to me

Goose, I think so.

Like I said, that's how I do it. Soon, it's gonna be time to figure out how much more gas is used while running the a/c for a tankfull of gas. In my Aveo, it knocked me back about 2 mpg.

S'why I try and avoid using the AC. My apartment isn't conditioned, so it isn't the big of a stretch anyways.

I did a little experimenting yesterday while was out running errands.

While cruisen the freeway I reset the mpg and set the cruise on 68. The dic showed 33.9 mpg. As I was making a sweeping turn the dic showed 33.4. So the dic is showing the scrub and the extra hp it takes to make a turn. I then hit the city streets. I couldnt use the cruise for obvious reasons. Too many stoplights. I reset the dic at one of the lights. Drove for like 6 or seven lights and the dic showed 17.3 mpg. Take that info for what its worth.

The last time I filled up I did the manual calculation. We use trip a for total miles on a tank and trip b for mileage on trips. I pulled into the station with the dic showing 25.7 mpg. After filling I did the ol manual calculation and got 26.3 mpg.

Before buying our HHR we owned a 98 Z28. I had done alot of work modding that car. It had cam, Z06 intake, Roll cage, Race preped tranny, High stall converter, headers, custom dual exhaust, x-pipe, valve springs, push rods, racing springs, bilstein shocks, rotors, and a bunch of other small things not to mention nitrous. My avg mpg was 15 mpg and it would do 11.70 in the qtr mile.

We also own a 2001 GMC Yukon XL just like a Suburban except its a GMC. 5.3L 2WD not a 4WD. I live in the SF Bay Area and dont need 4WD. It has a mpg avg of 16 mpg. I sold the Z28 and we bought the HHR.

We mainly bought the HHR for the mpg it got plus its great looks. I have been waiting for our union 76 gas bill for a month and finally received it. Last month our bill was 488.00 this was with the Yukon and the Z28. This time around it was 218.00 with the HHR and the Yukon.

My wife was driving 60 miles each day in her commute to and from work. I dont drive around much as I am retired on disability.

Thats some info I really like. I saved 270.00 on my gas bill, screwed the gas company by not buying as much of there over priced gas, helped the economy by buying a car, Helped the planet by not using as much gas. Saved 500.00 per year on insurance, stuck it to the insurance company buy not giving them 500.00 more a year. I could go on but you get the message.

So im on top no matter if the DIC is correct or not but the coolest thing of all is

I GOT A COOL AZZ HHR!!!
