Is it just me? (lookin' in the rear view mirror)

Could not think of a better title for this, but here goes:

Since i got my SS (was driving a full size pickup prior) I noticed that whenever anyone is behind me , be it at a stoplight or drive thru etc., it seems like they most always are a inch from my bumper!

I know it's prob not the case, cuz i'm still in the learning curve as far as getting a feel for how far/close i am when backing up towards something. But still, i get a lil nervous when all i see in the rear view is a windshield .I try to calm myself by checking the side mirrors but most always what i now do is just creeeeep up a lil when someone pulls up behind me.

I can back up the pickup a inch away from something no prob, but i back the SS up and when i think i am close to something it turns out i have a few feet to go still.

Mebbe it's the "new car" thing ,dunno

Please tell me it's just not me :twothumbs LOL

I've noticed since my line of sight is limited because of panel wagon, that people like to park behindme, and nobody cuts any slack when backing out of a parking space. I'm thinking of putting a back-up alarm. When pulling a panel out of a parking space, you cannot see anything until the front windows clear the car you are parked next to. You just can't see a thing. God forbid, someone would actually stop when they see you're pulling out. They'd rather honk the horn and speed past behind you.

The back-up alarm won't stop them from speeding by you.Seen that too often!!I try to park my Panel so I can pull out forward or a parking space I can back into.

Same here! Truck to HHR, I was like, what's this *^&*% doing on my bumper? Took me a few days to not want to step out with the yard stick.

Yes!
I went from driving an S10 and seeing people come up behind me in Blackie, I brace myself. I was hit from behind many years ago in my GEO Metro and made the mistake of bracing myself for the impact (broke the seat and steering wheel flying forward and back)--so I find myself doing the same thing again, even though I know they will stop.

What I find funny is how high Blackie's butt is (at least for a few more days!) and when there is a little car behind me, all I can see is the driver's face and no hood!

There was a thread a few months ago where many of us fessed up that we could park a big-a** truck, but couldn't seem to park our HHR's correctly!

I *still* have to check and make sure I'm in straight (I usually back in).

Yep, this is the most frustrating vehicle to park.

When I back into parking spots, I use all the mirrors and stop when it appears that I am about to hit the vehicle in the other spot.

I get out and look....still 2 feet to go

I may get some of those blind spot stickon mirrors and see if they help.

I had a Silverado Crew Cab and I don't have this problem. My fiancee scraped the curb lastnight with the front spoiler and he didn't realize it. The problem I have is the width of the pillars. Hard to see around them.

LMAO!!!

So it ain't just me!
If i did not start this thread , i swear reading these posts makes it sound like I wrote 'em!

Ditto on the backin' in to a space(w/ either a car or something immovable to watch out for) 'n thinking you are "right there" and get out and look and find you have like 2 ft to go of "plenty of room" space left

After seeing that, i use that to try to talk myself into thinking that the a-hole behind me grazing my rear bumper , is really far enuf behind to not be a concern,,,,
like i said, i try to talk myself into thinking that
I'm getting better, but still creep a lil when someone gets behind me @ a light.(worst part is when ya get a semi behind you ,and all u see is grill !)

Thanks everyone for the backup
