Is it just me? (lookin' in the rear view mirror)
Yep, this is the most frustrating vehicle to park.
When I back into parking spots, I use all the mirrors and stop when it appears that I am about to hit the vehicle in the other spot.
I get out and look....still 2 feet to go
I may get some of those blind spot stickon mirrors and see if they help.

and I always feel I'm going to hit something behind me and yep, get out to look and still have like 2 feet to go!

doh!
They are lots farther from your car, but way closer to the rear window...Or, your window is way closer to them...LOLOLOL
Funny. When I pull up behind people in MY HHR, they start to try to keep their mirror from shaking, then they pull forward as much as possible... I'm a 40yr old minous to society!

You'd be amazed at how much room there really is between the rear bumper and that vehicle that appears so close.
Try this........Back up to another car and stop when you feel comfortable w/ other vehicle in the rearview mirror. Then get out for the surprise of how much more you actually have.

You mean the one that blocks a important part of frontal vision?
Prob not a issue to those not 6' 1" like yer truly, but i gotta check/look under or around it when i come to a intersection. I missed seeing a motorcycle once (good thing i heard it tho
)
I now give a lil scrunch when needed, to see everything.
(Ain't so bad, that's my only complaint

Apparently y'all have never driven a van.....
Try a full panel, no rear windows. All the little sticky mirrors in the world won't help.
Here's a tip- Daytime, look at the shadows, you can judge distance by how far apart the shadows are.
Nighttime- you can see the reflection of your taillights in the shiny bits of the car behind you

. So i decided i would have to "settle" on a window'd SS (Of course i had no regrets LOL
Trust me...it's not you. I've had the same problem for ages. Even my boyfriend who has worked at car lots and backs cars up all the time said the HHR is one of the hardest vehicles he has ever tried to back up. I've gotten used to people being right on what appears to be my bumper...although sometimes it still makes me uncomfortable if it's a large vehicle.
