Thumbs up Just Passed The First 1000 Miles!!

Just went past the 1000 mile mark a few days ago on my white 08 HHR 2LT. Am very pleased so far, absolutely no problems, this babys been perfect.

I'm also on my first tank of 93 octane, ran 87 up till this tank. On the 87 octane, with 20 miles on the car (Oct. 20/07) MPG started at 24.4 MPG, then gained approx. (.1) one tenth per week and has leveled out at approx. 26 mpg. That's mostly combination small city/rural highway driving including driving over a 2000 ft. mountain twice a day on the way to and from work, I'm pretty happy with that. Seems like the 2.4 engine does like the high-test better, things I've noticed is it does run smoother, and quieter, also accelerates quicker. Gas mileage has actually dropped one tenth on this first tank of high-test, could be due to the low mileage and being the first tank of high-test. Could also be I like putting my foot down harder with the slight power gain! Not sure how long it takes the computer to optimize itself for fuel type.

I know a lot of people have bad-mouthed the Firestone tires on here but as far a grip on wet pavement, I was following a tractor trailer down the road in pouring rain at about 65 mph with a side wind whipping too, and the car felt really solid. Can't wait to see how they do on packed snow this winter, that is if it actually snows much here!

Catch ya later!

Personally, I have nothing against Firestone tires. They have never done me bad. The Fuzion HRi's (Firestone) on my wifes MPV did great in NY last March when we went to a funeral and low and behold, it started snowing in Penn on the way up there.

I've got 1200 on my '08 2LT. I'm averaging 27.3 mpg. I'm pretty happy with that.

I'm fine with the tires that came on the car. Since reading about various opinions on the matter, though, I have looked at them differently, however...when you look at them, they really are teeny for a car as (seemingly) big as the HHR. My Cavaliers have bigger tires than the HHR!
