Take the contact pad off and use a pencil eraser on the board it presses on to, then clean with isopropyl alcohol.

Mine did the same thing and the rubber pads on the back of the outside rubber piece you press had worn down. So I ordered a new key fob from Walmart for $12.36 but now sells for $10.79 online, opened it up and removed the circuit board and placed in my existing circuit board from old fob. There was a little play so put a small rubber piece between circuit board and side. Closed back up and has was perfectly for over a year now. Doing that saved me from programming the new fob.

Even less on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Buttons-R...frcectupt=true

This is assuming the battery cage is still soldered to the board. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...ontacts-30813/

Yep a lot of comments about battery clip loose or disconnected solder joints.

It only took a couple of times of dropping my keys to loosen up the solder joints. For a while I was re-soldering about every 6 months. I bought a new soldering iron and haven't had to solder the connections in a year and a half.
