Took key fobs apart and checked for loose battery clips both were ok. Cleaned the push pads and contacts. Checked for voltage across the contacts and both had battery voltage. Reassemble the fobs and only the horn button worked. Took fobs apart and tried shorting across the contacts with foil on the end of a eraser and all worked except the remote start. Glued small circles of foil to the push pad contact spots and reassemble the fobs. All fuctions now work including the remote start.

For less than $5 you can fix it permanently. A new pad or a new case & pad.

Would that be the case and push pad from ace hardware?

There or many other places like eBay. Any place that carries the Dorman line can get them if Ebay is too scary.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...acat=0&_sop=15

You might have to go deep for a panel set. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Keyless-Ent...MAAOSwxwNZ4rqV

If you can only find one with the trunk button it will work. Or for that matter send me $10 by paypal and I will send you 2 used fob cases and 1 circuit board. They don't have Remote start, but Panic+Lock does the same thing.

The circuit boards have all 7 button positions provisioned.

Thanks for all the advice and helpful information. I'll just keep using my repaired fobs unless I find out my fix is harmful in some way. Thanks all.

From what I saw, it was just the new rubber insert with the carbon pads that should make it like new. Of course like it has been said be sure the battery clip is connected to the board.

The key fob buttons are lock, unlock, remote start and horn.
