Knocking Sound from Front End

Well Check this out
I took my 2006 HHr 2LT to the Dealership this morning for a Knocking sound but it only happens when I am moving from side to side like a race car driver when warmimg up the Tires. After several hours they heard the sound and checked everything under the front end and found everything Tight and nothing out of the ordinary, I trust this Dealership due to them working on our Police fleet of 45 vehicles. The mileage on my HHr was 80.450 when I took it in. It seem to me that after 80K something is now due to be replaced but they said there is nothing wrong and everything is tight. If any one has had this problem please let me know, There has to be some one out there with High mileage. I heard about one guy on this site who had over 100.000K on his HHr but I never seen his vehicle on the site.

Going Sound crazy

Answers in post 2 and 3 are the most likely since, historically, that is what has been the area of repair with similiar noise complaints on the HHR. Just my 2 centavos.

Lately I noticed a noise in the front right, when I first get in and back out of our driveway there is a ticking noise. Then I put it in drive and go forward it is there again, but it is gone after that.

My fiance has her 2006 2LT at the dealership AGAIN this morning for a thumping knocking sound coming from the front driver side (more noticable when it hits a bumpy road or turning).

Just 4 months ago, she had it in for a similar sound on the passenger side front end. That time it was the sway bar and bushings which were all replaced.

I'll let you know the results from today's trip to the dealership as soon as I hear from her.

Could be the lower front control arm rear bushings. All the cars with vertically bolted bushings like that end up tearing up the bushing. The direction of motion of the arm is perpendicular to the bushing, not paralell to it.That's what tears up the bushing. One of the all time dumb engineering design mistakes,IMHO.

Well, my fiance just called from the dealership.... after checking everything under the front end and going for a test drive, he heard the noise but is clueless on what is causing it.

He said the original sway bar bushing that were replaced with the newer designed bushings look perfect. He said they have replaced a ton of those poorly designed original stock bushings.

They are still looking at it...

Dealership said that was a normal sound as the vehicle ages (2 yrs old).

The steering and newly replaced sway bar bushings were all tight and solid.

No repair... they told my fiance that all HHRs tend to get a few noises and they are driven. Guess we'll try a different dealership...

This sounds like bad Struts mounts.
