led lights go dim
Hi
I'm bad using the search function so I'm asking this question.
At times the brightness of the RPD, radio and info screen under the speedometer gets light. Like it set at half brilliance. This happens during the day at times.
Anybody else have had the same problem?

From page 3-17 of the 2009 owners manual (don't know what year yours is) -
"Instrument Panel Brightness
The control for this feature
is located to the right of
the steering wheel
and above the radio.
Move the thumbwheel to the left to dim the lights or to
the right to brighten the lights.
The dome lamps will turn on when the thumbwheel is
moved completely to the right."

If you go through a lot of tunnels, or down streets lined with trees that cover the road, you may be getting the auto lights to turn on, which will cause the dash lights to dim IF you have your dial all the way down, it will be more drastic to notice.
I usually set my lights to manual so it doesn't change at all while I am driving.

Good afternoon Cat Man HHR,
Several of the forum members that have responded to your post seem to have the right idea! Many HHRs do have an automatic lamp system that senses your outer conditions to affect the lighting levels of your tail lamps, sidemarker, parking lamps, instrumental panel lights, and interior switch backlighting. I checked out your profile and see that you have a 2010 - if you'd like to look up more information, reference pages 4-12 and 4-13 in the 2010 Chevy HHR Owner's Manual.

I have the headlights on auto so they are always on during daylight hours.
I just came home from work with the sun right in my eyes and the LED's where bright. I can have the same situation at times, not all the time, and the LED's dim like I have moved the brightness control lower.
Why would you have a auto dim feature that makes looking at the LED's harder in direct sun light?
My first HHR didn't have this problem. It was a 2010 LS.
