Hey Marc . Very good to hear your HHRs have kept you safe TWICE in a couple of weeks no less!!

Maybe this is your opportunity to get yourself an SS.

the first accident was last february. so its been about a year. If I totaled two cars in two weeks. I think I'd stop driving for a while.

Fox, take a look at thelink in post 26. how many miles is too many when buying a used car... i was hoping to stay 2010 model year or newer and less than 50K miles...and right around $15K

Lol at myself for not noticing the date stamp.

How much is too much depends on how that particular car was looked after.... or not.
If you can get service records would be a bonus.
I have both an'09 windowed and an '09 panel. 65k km on the panel and 170k km on the wifeys windowed HHR. When we only had the one I drove it from 30k to 150k till I found the panel for sale. I took it for a spin and everything felt good, practically like new at 50k. Had a good look under the hood for any thing out of place. Looked underneath for leaks or damage.Finding no issues I put in my offer. Now I have Fraternal twins.

Have a look at the prices vs km on these:

Well, went and looked at the SS, and another 2lt.

the SS was nice, drove just like my old 2lt, just a bit quicker....but I just did not get the "warm fuzzy" feeling from the dealer or from the car. so I walked.

Went to the chevy dealer to look at 2011 2lt with 70K. got to the dealer and the salesman showed me a base lt that was up on the rack. and the entire side of the car looked like a florida navel orange and he tried to tell me that it was just the factory paint, BS.

The sales manger came out and told me that the 2lt was at the detail shop. WTF would you take pics of a car and post them online and then have the car at the detail shop. He wanted to make a deal for the car, a deal that I could walk away from if I didn't like it when it came in on monday. they were asking 9,990. I told them Thanks, but no thanks.

So I came home and slept on it.

I wnet back out and this time my search focused on non HHR. I did some soul searching and realized that I was looking for an HHR for its storage and carrying ability. Well I only use the wagon area about 2-3 weeks out of the year for my R/C hobby. and my wifes Saturn Vue can easily doo the same job.

so...

Someone take my man card...

2010 prius leather, nav, bluetooth

on the plus side, I'll get 2x the fuel mileage on my every day commute, and I did some trial fitting of by RC boats and while I don't have the same amount of space as the HHR the prius will cover 90% of my hauling needs.

on down side...I'll just be another schmuck on the road with a tree hugging hippie hybrid...

I was surprised at the "pep" don't laugh. torque and HP numbers are within 10% and the prius has a 1000lb edge on the weight...

Eh...I'm just another schnook in a jelleybean with wheels....

Later guys.

I can't fault you on the $ for fuel, but sometimes dollars make no sense, enjoy the new ride, and hope it'll keep you safe.

thanks OB....

At the very least...in five years when my daughter goes to college this might make a nice college car........if it makes it :)

My wife is getting laid off at the end of the month we found out just before the holidays (merry freeking christmas)....so I think this was the "responsible" choice at this time... just on fuel savings, its going mean an extra 100 bucks each month in our hands...

I had to make a similar choice when I sold my 94 Impala SS for a minivan. These things usually have a way of working out for the best...

So if anyone from the DC area, if you see a guy in a Prius looking long and hard at your HHR, and he has a small bit of drool at the corner of his mouth....don't be scared....its just me...

if you do see one of us, wave and maybe we'll let you sit in the HHR, but please don't honk the horn or make vvvvrroom vvvvrroom sounds, LOL.
