Angry Lt. Blue (+) brake switch wire

Good afternoon,

I am attempting to install a remote starter and have been able to locate most of the wires. The wire I am unable to find is the Lt. Blue (+) brake switch wire. I found the wires attached to the brake pedal are, but none of them are Lt. Blue. I have tested every Lt. Blue wire under the knee panel and none of them are + when the brake pedal is pressed. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I have spent hours looking for this bugger!!

Try any directly attached to the brake pedal for the one that does give off a positive current when depressed.

The were three wires off the switch and the yellow one was + when pedal was pressed. Wonder why the diagram indicated the wire was Lt. Blue ?? Thanks for your input.

Yes, just whose diagram are you referencing?

My 2009 FSM has the three wires as:
White, +5VDC reference
Brown, a signal Ground
Yellow, which is a variable voltage as the pedal is activated.
All three of these wires feed into the BCM. The BCM in turn controls the brake lights.

This pedal circuit seems to want to measure not only that you have pressed on the pedal, but with what force it is pressed as well. I can only imagine the “force” is somehow used by the antilock brake system. I suspect this is not where you want to tap in – I wouldn’t.

There is however, a light blue wire/circuit that feeds the Center High Mounted Stop Light(CHMSL). The schematic in my 2009 FSM says there is a separate CHMSL relay in the engine compartment – just not in the regular underhood fuse box. The manual seems to give no help in finding this CHMSL relay.

I can certainly see why you have not found this wire you are looking for. My guess would be to look at the bundle of wires under the driver’s feet for a light blue wire.

Please DO post a reply when you find the wire and or the relay.
