The only reason I remember is because CJ Krause was going to put chrome skull caps on his LS and in order to do so he would have to replace the whole mirror assembly. It was in one of his posts but I don't remember which thread.

 

I was wondering about that too. I thought maybe I could buy some Satin finish skull caps for my LS. Guess I can forget about that!

 

they are around $75 or $125 each too. another reason i did not do it

 

so far you need the whole mirror they don't carry the chrome skull cap alone
and the replacement satin skull cap is unpainted i tried to get the chrome skull caps and there is no part yet and the only cap so far is about 15.00 each
