Mods

I completed 2 mods on my HHR today. Built and installed a upper shelf in the cargo area. Covered it in black and white vinyl. Also made the lower grill from the rain gutter covers that i got from Lowes. I have pix but don't know or can't figure out how to post pix. I can sent someone pix of the shelf and grill if anyone is interested. Also installed the in channel rain guards. I like them. No wind noise now.

What material did you use for the shelf itself?

Just wondering what kind of load it would hold without bending too much.

Sounds good I would like to see the shelf, I have the same problem I also am having a problem posting Photos, This is all new to me. but I will get it, I put on the Vent visors on mine w/ Sun-roof also. The HHR looks longer. The Vent Visors that I put on on the Door and not the same as the In Channel ones.
Good luck with your vehicle.

I made the shelf out of 3/4 plywood. The round knobs are made from 1 1/4 inch dowel rod that i had and they are cut to 1 inch length. I used 2 inch screws through the rod pieces. I drilled a hole through the center first so it wouldn't split. It will just hold small things. When you push down on it it seems sturdy. I glued the vinyl with 3M adhesive. The shelf will also fit in the bottom in place of the plastic one. That one can then be put in the top position. I cut the pattern from the bottom piece.
