Moving drivers seat

Hey, I am a newby here and to owning a HHR. I have a 08 panel. Behind the drivers seat there is plenty of room to go back further but it doesn't. Is it possible to move the seat back a few inches to gain leg room? Thanks for any thoughts.

First off, welcome. Hope you enjoy the wealth of info here.

Second, I don't know how you would get the seat to go back farther without voiding any possible warranty.

Welcome...

Assuming your seat is functioning fully back & forth, & that is not enough. Yes you could fab up some brackets to set it back further..
Too far back may make the seatbelt less effective tho....

One member here has even added low sitting racing seats in his SS Panel..

PS: On the locking storage bins behind you, very easy to make them much deeper also..

Welcome and Greetings!! Just a thought on your question, look in your yellow pages or on the net for a vehicle mobility outfitter in your area, they have plenty of experience in changing the seat mounts and configurations. What you want to be careful with is moving the seat runners and attachment points without beefing up the substructure, in an accident you could be in real trouble.

Add one thought......

A certain amount of space is left to provide area of movement for the tilt mechanism of the upper seat back.

Not having a panel myself, might the space, you are speaking of, be for tilting the seat back further back.....when the seat, itself, is fully back on the track?

Do you have a link to this or any pics? I am thinking about aftermarket seats for my SS as well....they are a little too high for me.

Snoopy-

That is very true.. I don't need mine back all the way, but when I recline them a lot, it does diminish the space somewhat...It has to.. Good point !!!

This thread will show you detail of how the seats are mounted, and what the floor looks like with the carpet removed

I originally test drove a 2008 panel with a regular seat, was a no sale. The power seat moved back to an acceptable range for me.
