My 2010 Chevy HHR vs Chevy Equinox
#11
I can speak to the Encore. We bought a 2016 Sport Touring model for my wife last year. Great ride for a little CUV. Very comfortable seats, very quiet inside. We've taken it on a few short trips of 3-4 hours one way and I never got fatigued driving it. Excellent city mileage, she gets 29 mpg in the city. Hwy is 33/34. Stereo is not the premium one and sound is so-so. Fully Android compatible though, it even uses Poweramp on my phone to control the MP3s. Only certain models have the 158 hp engine. If you look at these don't get the one with 138 hp. Ours is the 158. It's adequate but not nearly as fun as the 2.4 in the HHR. So far with the record snow we've seen it's been great in snow, and it's not AWD. Overall we couldn't be happier with it.
However where it would lack for your needs is cargo. Even with the back seat down it's about 2/3 what the HHR has for available cargo space. If I were you just for cargo space I'd be narrowing it down to GMC Terrain, Chevy Equinox (sister car to the Terrain), Toyota Venza, or Jeep Cherokee. Everything else on your list is a lot smaller. Not sure how the mileage in the Cherokee is.
Don't dismiss used, especially certified used. we saved over 10k off the price of a new one and got 1 year bumper to bumper added. Same for our HHR when we bought it in 2008.

Sweetie bought her 2018 Terrain, listed at $43,000.00 CDN .
It’s 11 months old with 23,000 Klm or 14,000 miles , it’s never been titled, a demo
She got it for 27,000.00 . So, nicely appointed for $16,000.00 less, works for us!
Her bumper to bumper warranty starts yesterday , day if delivery.

I have been looking for a replacement for my 2010 Chevy HHR LS with about 135,000 miles on it. I've test drove a couple 2019 Chevrolet Equinox's in Front Wheel Drive and they seem like a good replacement for the HHR, what are your thoughts?

That is awesome you found your original thread. Do you like the Equinox ? The Terrain is what OldBlue's Mrs has, sharp looking,.
I'm a truck guy, so my opinion won't be helpful. If it weren't for the HHR Panel version, I would still have a p/up truck..

We have replaced Sweetie’s Sunfire GT with a 2018, 1.5 l turbo charged, low miles Terrain SLE , great on fuel only a couple inches longer than the HHR and a couple inches wider.
She loves her new ride, so much if it’s gonna rain she takes Oldblue to run errands!
