My HHR's 1st birthday report.

10,766 miles later I'm still very pleased with my car.Biggest gripe is the frozen windows in the winter, best surprise is the better than expected gas mileage. It's reasonably peppy and I'm happy to be back among the self shifting brigade.I love my 5 speed.
There are no really debilitating problems with the car.The rear hatch bowtie has the usual water intrusion problem and the upper glove box door rattles. The front suspension has low speed bump rattle issues and lately the rotors have started to pulsate on highway speed stops. It amamzes me that Firestone has managed to make a tire with little grip in both the dry AND the wet. Those Firehawk GTs are probably the worst OEM tire I've encountered. Can't wait until they wear out so I can buy some better tires(but with my uncertain career future, the damn things will have to last me a LONG time). The clutch chatters, but that's probably as much my fault as anything.I've discovered that the best solution for the wind buffeting with the front windows open is to lower the 2 back windows a little bit.And why did GM bother to put an auto dimming mirror on a car with a deep tint back window? It's useless.
Ending on a happy note,if I had to choose whether to buy my HHR again,I would do it.The car suits me and as a bonus I've happened upon a great group here at the forum.

Heya Tony.
I've had my HHR for two years, with about 40,000km on it, and am experiencing some of the same issues.

The suspension rattling started recently for me, but I had the same problem with my old Saturn Ion-3. Turns out the sway bars had too much clearance (I think). My local dealership fixed that up quickly, and under warranty. Speed bumps are nice and quiet now.

Other than that, I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your HHR :) It really is a fantastic vehicle.

I'll be a year this Saturday, only managed 5,400 miles of everyday driving.

Other than some electrical issues the first few weeks, it's been a enjoyable! I've got the bubbly bowtie but nothing else yet. Looking forward to my first road trip next month to Colorado.

Thanks for the update on your HHR. I'll be doing a similar 5000 mile report on my HHR here in a few weeks. I have the front end rattle also and brought it into the Chevy dealership. They say it's something in the the steering wheel column and they will replace it under warranty, but the part is back ordered for 3 weeks! Glad you still like your car. Even with the few problems I've had with my HHR, I still really enjoy driving it.
