Need Help ASAP! Rain is coming and sunroof won't shut!

My daughter has a 2006 HHR and the sunroof is closed about 2/3s of the way. When you toggle the open-close button it does nothing but when you toggle the vent open-closed button it clicks. I can't find the owners manual so I can't look it up but there has to be some way to manually close the sunroof. I even pulled the switch from the headliner and tried jumping wires with no luck. Please help me get this thing closed!

Thank you for the reply. Apparently I'm older than dirt as I remember EVERY car I've ever encountered having a plug and a crank or some type of way to close the roof in an emergency. This is pathetic,

Some duct tape (or other waterproof tape) and a piece of 3 mil or so clear tarp will cover the hole in an emergency situation. I carry both in my vehicles with sunroofs just in case it refuses to shut. You don't have to seal it perfectly, remember the factory sunroof doesn't seal around the edges of the glass - the water just goes down the drains.

There are no manual cranks on any of mine with sunroofs. My 1986 Pontiac 6000STE did have a manual backup crank, but I don't think they put them in any more.

I found one fuse under the hood and it was good. Any idea where additional fuses and relays are located? If the switch were bad wouldn't I be able to jump wires at the plug to get it to close? I'm planning tp pull the headliner down to get to the motor and un-hook it to manually close the roof as a last resort.

A VOM would narrow the possibilities down.

Here are the connector pin outs

It's more than likely the motor. I too have a sunroof problem that opens 2 inches but can close, vent works. It worked fine one day and next time I had the problem. No blown fuses.

Do you know where the 14 pin connector is located?

Have you tried getting to the motor yet? Wondering if it would be easier to get to it from the front, the back or the side? Hopefully the entire headliner doesn't have to come down.
