My Granddaughter gas 2010 chevy Malibu pretty sure has jumped time…took valve cover off and I done see any valves stuck open like they are bent but I want to do compression leak test. Any advice would be appreciated.

to the forums!

These forums are for Chevrolet HHR, but the engine is the same in the Malibu.

Do NOT crank over the engine!

You have the valve cover off, look at the chain, any slack at all is bad. Don't let anyone try to crank the engine. One member had his vehicle towed to get the repair done, the tow driver didn't know and tried to start it to drive it onto the truck. Engine ruined!

Oh yeah…definite slack in chain….not trying to crank it…just trying to determine if has to have head work. With borescope didnt see and marks on pistons like valves hit. Just lije to hand turn each cylinder (if I can) to TDC and hold it there an pressurize the cylinder check for leaking valves

Oh, sorry gearhead! For some reason I thought this was a new member, who thought this was a generic Chevy site!
