The motor on my 2001 Malibu would have throttled your optimism on powertrain reliability

I had an engine replaced at 42,000 kms due to piston slap damage. Damaged the cylinder walls on the #2 and #4 cylinders

Sure glad that was POS was still under warranty at the time

Biggy here is the powertrain, it is the most expensive to repair now days, most of my past Chevy's had over 100,000 miles on them, no major problems, alternator and injectors on 96 Monte, Fuel pump on 99 Astro, Thermostat on 2003 Impala. whoopy. Now engine and transmission repairs, hang on, they ain't cheap. This being a fairly new to GM engine in the US, I'd be happy for a warranty on mine, but by the same token, GM wouldn't put a high time warranty on anything if they didn't believe in the product. soo all in all we win even if we don't get the extended 5/100000 warranty.IMO

Most all of Chevrolet body changes came in 2006, HHR, Impala, malibu, cobalt and the list goes on. We should all have the same warranty for there is no difference between my 2006 and a 2007 HHR.

I have not read all the releases yet, but I think I heard that this warranty will be extended to all the 2006 vehicles still on the dealer lots....could be wrong.
How about the one in my driveway too!!

No offense...I know it's your 2 cents, but that kind of logic could go on forever. GM could have introduced the HHR as a 2005, because it runs well (basically) and quality is good. Well, they good have done this or that. But, it was THEIR decision, I'm sure they had a reason.

By Federal Law....service, at recommended intervals, and repairs, can be performed by anyone that has the expertise.
